My ankle has been on the mend and my exercising (mainly walking) has gradually increased for the past month. With that has come some serious weight loss, going from 26st 7lb in late August to 24st 13lb as of this week. The compliments have been rolling in, how slimmer and younger and even “sexier” (sexier said only by one person mind you) I am looking these days lol. So with my confidence being on a high I decided to do something I haven’t done since I was in school, ask a girl out …….. IN PERSON! (Nope this isn’t a POF or online dating site related post).
My workplace hired 4 new Operatives a couple of months ago when 4 of our former Operatives got the sack for smoking weed behind the back of the building after getting caught by one of our managers. One of them is Britney, she’s 21 (I know there’s a 9 year age gap shut up lol), very short and cute in a weird sort of way. From what I have seen she is quiet but competent at the job. I only really started talking to her for the past couple of weeks when we have been on the same shifts and she has been under my supervision. We have a bit of banter and I have found myself saying a couple of mild innuendo comments towards her, not that she has returned same types of comments back to me but she certainly doesn’t dismiss them either if you know what I mean. I found her to be on my mind alot for the past week or so, like I said she looks cute in a weird way but also she’s nice to talk to and she has a good sense of humour too.
I didn’t know much about her but I knew I wanted to get to know her better, but I needed to find out if she had a boyfriend so I added her on Facebook. She appeared to be single but I know some people don’t post their entire private lives on social media so I messaged her and an opportunity came up when I asked if she had a boyfriend but with tact. She said no but she really wasn’t a commitment kind of girl. Ok then so I know she’s a casual not to serious kind of girl. Also getting to know her on one of our breaks the other night at work I found out she has always wanted to go to the Isle of Reggae Caribbean restaurant (one of my favourites as I have mentioned the place a few times already), ok thank you opportunity I owe you one. So I asked her out for drinks and afterwards dinner there and then and she said yes. We agreed to go out in a couple of weeks. Now I didn’t use the word date because I wanted to keep this as casual as possible for her benefit, and saying that I didn’t use the words “as friends” and neither did she when she agreed to it. Then yesterday she messages me and things go completely 180.
For fuck sake really? I should of backed out but I’m too polite to do that, I am happy with my reply I felt like I certainly saved some face because like I said I never used the word date. I did wish she had asked me that at the time when I asked her out though. But then I am reading what she is saying and I am not over thinking what it is she has said like I normally would do but I am actually thinking about what she hasn’t written. She clearly knows I must have some sort of interest in her hence why I asked her out as I still haven’t made up my mind if I could fancy her. She has made it perfectly clear she has hangs up about the dating life and has commitment issues etc. But that could only leave one remote possibility that she may just like casual sex. I honestly don’t know but if this isn’t going to be a date then two things are going to happen. One, she is paying for herself because if it was a first date I would happily pay the bill. Two, depending on how she responds to any flirting heading her way and trust me I will make sure there will be alot of it if she responds positively to it then I’m gonna lean in for a kiss when she gets her bus home because if it was a first date I would never try kissing at all. In fairness that is only on condition that if I actually have more interest in her during the date then I do now.

Update…….She cancelled on me, because a guy she used to be involved with in her past has come back into her life and wants to make a go of it with him. Just awesome.
